John McCain, presidential candidate for the Republican Party, along with a long military backround, is also the only person in the current race who has been in this game before, he has the most experience of both of the competing parties. John McCain was born August 29, 1936, In the Panama Canal Zone. He has had two wives, Carol Shepp and Cindy Hensley, and seven children, one of which was adopted from Bangladesh at a year old. He is currently a U.S. senator from Arizona and has served in the armed forces for a time of his life. He went to U.S. Naval Academy and the National War College. He has been in a few near death situations in Vietnam. McCain was held prisoner by the North Vietnamese in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. In 2002 McCain was in the presidential race, but ironically he was on the democratic side working on relations and trade with Vietnam. He also Co-sponsored a financial bill in that same year. Two years later, McCain shut down John Kerry’s offer for Vice president in. In addition to a lot of his great leadership skills McCain also received as an award a Silver Star, a Bronze Star, a Legion of Merit, and a Purple Heart. All of his great achievements and leadership skills make a good combination of a great president.
